Everything You Want to Know About France and More...

Creme Brulee Day, fabulous French towns and loads more

This week I found a duckling that had been abandoned, it was prematurely born with hardly any feathers and couldn’t walk as it had very weak legs. You know what a sucker I am for an animal so I took it home and held it for hours, I didn’t think it would make it but I wanted it to know it wasn’t alone. Anyway, to cut a long story short, the duckling is still with us but still has weak legs. I’m giving it swimming lessons in my bathroom sink several times a day after some advice I got from a lady who saw my duckling video on Instagram. I sometimes wonder how my life has become quite so odd and filled with animals and then I remember – oh yes, I’m a total pushover!

I know loads of you are on holiday in France at the moment or planning holidays here perhaps this summer, perhaps at a later date. Join me on Facebook where I post lots of photos and tips for place to visit and you can message me there if you would like advice from me or my lovely Facebook community. And if you’re in France – send us a “postcard” on the timeline!

July 22 is National Crème Brulee day (in the US, but hey it’s a good one so I’m pinching it for Europe too). I recently stayed in a B&B in Carcassonne where it was served at breakfast! If you’d like to try the dish that apparently originated at the court of Louis XIV, here’s a lovely recipe for this very French, very rich, classic dessert

This excerpt was taken from the weekly newsletter of 22 July 2017 – want to read the whole thing which highlights Saint-Valery-sur-Somme, renovating a house in France, ten things to do in Lille, where to eat in Nice, pet friendly car hire and a discount for our friends and a whole lot more?
